CMC offers mediators a forum to come together and discuss and promote their work.
It operates a regulation scheme for mediators who carry out Civil/Commercial and Workplace mediators who practise in England and Wales. The scheme offers mediators the opportunity to demonstrate their professional status. CMC also provides a complaints system to offer the public confidence in their choice of a CMC mediator.
CMC also runs events, which provide training and offers networking opportunities.
It liaises with government, the Civil Justice Council, different mediation organisations, employers and other stakeholders to promote mediation and address issues of concern. And it helps keep its members abreast of all developments related to the above.
Anyone interested in mediation can join the CMC as a Friend.
SEND mediators are covered by a different regulation scheme run jointly between the CMC and the College of Mediators – click here for details.
Mediators practising in areas covered by our registration schemes are encouraged to join the CMC as a Regulated Mediator.
Please see here for the full membership rules.
