Nominations Open for Election to CMC Board
One place for a registered mediation provider and one place for an individual mediator are open for election to the Board for the three-year period commencing in April 2020. The retiring Board members, who are eligible for re-election, are Caroline Sheridan, the Association of Northern Mediators (represented by Stephen Barker) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (represented by Tom Cadman).
Signed nominations of candidates should be sent to the Secretariat by 5.00pm on Friday 6 March 2020, and should be accompanied by an election addresses from the candidates, limited to one page only. Candidates may also include a company logo or headshot of the candidate if they wish.
Ballot papers will be despatched to all members by an online voting system on Monday 16 March 2020. Members will receive an email via the online voting system that will require you to click on a link and make your selection of candidate(s). You must submit your vote via the online system by 5.00pm on Monday 30 March 2020.
Vote counting will be undertaken via the online voting system with an independent returning officer and the results will be announced via email during the week commencing 6 April 2020. In the event of a tie, the election will be decided by the drawing of lots.
Board members, who become Directors of the charitable company CMC Limited and agree to be bound by its Code of Conduct, serve for three year terms and are expected to take an active part in the governance of the Council, including attending all Board and relevant Committee meetings and to actively participate in its work. The confirmed dates of the 2020 Board meetings are 15th June and 15th October.
NOMINATION PROCEDURE FOR ELECTION TO THE BOARD OF THE CMC
Candidates may nominate themselves or be nominated by others (provided the candidate consents). Candidates, and those nominating, must be current members of the CMC. A minimum of two members must nominate each candidate.
Nominations (stating whether for election as a registered mediation provider or as an individual mediator) should be sent by email to secretariat@civilmediation.org. A nomination form is available here.
Nominators will be listed with the candidates they nominate.
Candidates must confirm in their nomination letter (or nominators must state that the candidate has confirmed) that they are members of the CMC.
