About Devon Mediation Service:

Devon Mediation Service provides community mediation across Devon and Cornwall and Somerset. We provide services mainly on behalf of Councils, Housing Associations and Devon and Cornwall Police.

Devon Mediation manages around 100 cases per year. We charge organisations for the service and some pay on an annual basis whilst others pay on a pay as you go arrangement.

Devon Mediation Service provides the following services:

  • Neighbourhood mediation
  • Intergenerational mediation (adults)
  • Group mediation / facilitation
  • Peer mediation training
  • Training for community mediators
  • Conflict prevention training

The organisation has the following in place:

  • All mediators have appropriate training
  • Written Code of Conduct
  • Published complaints procedure
  • Ongoing CPD and supervision/mentoring for mediators
  • Professional Indemnity insurance cover (no less than £1 million)
  • Public liability and Employer liability insurance cover
  • Suitable and sufficient service administration
  • Registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
  • Safeguarding policy
  • Risk assessments carried out for individual cases

Devon Mediation Service also provides a Volunteers’ Handbook with additional policies including Email Policy, Advice on Safety for Home Visits, Data Protection Guidance etc.
