What is Community Mediation?

The term ‘Community Mediation’ refers to mediation and one to one support available to individuals and communities, for matters unrelated to financial disputes or commercial, civil or family law. It is a voluntary and confidential process supported by an impartial, non-judgemental mediator/s who act as an independent third party to help people resolve their own disputes. The primary focus of community mediation is to reduce the impact conflict has on individuals and our communities.

To better understand the wide-reaching benefits of community mediation—including its positive impact on health, housing, community safety, and education—you can read The Cost of Community Conflict, a report by Mediation Hertfordshire.
