REPORT BY VICTORIA HARRIS
The CMC is committed to support Higher Education Institutions in embedding mediation within teaching as well as support research initiatives. Thursday, 1 May, saw a new session of the CMC Academic Forum.
This session, chaired by Professor Jane Bryan from the University of Warwick delivered two presentations to delegates. The first was an exciting new initiative to launch an ADR Researchers Network and the second was a reflection upon conflict and mental health and the value of sowing seeds around the client experience of conflict, with aspiring dispute resolution professionals.
Zora Kizilyurek from Newcastle University launched a new ADR Researchers Network which she will co-lead with Professor Jane Bryan. If you are interested to learn more, please do register your interest and the join the group on LinkedIn.

In a second presentation, Deputy CEO Victoria Harris shared the publicly available CMC resources on conflict and mental health. Victoria shared the videos that reveal the hidden impact of conflict; how mediation can support mental health for those in conflict; tools for mediators to manage crisis and how mediators can help manage their own wellbeing whilst seeking to support others. Victoria also reflected on the importance of professional boundaries and how having signposting resources available is one way of offering professional support to clients.
The CMC is launching its new three-year strategic plan shortly and there are some exciting plans to support Higher Education. To learn more why not join the next CMC Mediation in Session webinar on 12th June, 12pm-1pm, to hear from the CMC Board and Executive team.
